How Much Does A Mould INSPECTIon & Testing Cost?
Mould in your home is more than a cosmetic issue. It usually indicates an underlying moisture problem and can affect both the building and the people living in it. Many clients first notice allergies, asthma flares, or ongoing health concerns before any visible mould is observed.
At MouldWise, inspections are carried out by Jess Ward, an advanced mould inspector working across Sydney and NSW. Pricing is clear and transparent, and inspections are independent from remediation so you can receive unbiased, evidence-based guidance on what matters and what does not.
MouldWise is trusted by health practitioners, buyers’ agents, and property professionals who need accurate information before making decisions about repairs, remediation, or purchasing a home.

Factors Affecting Testing Costs
Home Size: Larger homes require more time, samples, and detail.
Sampling Needs: Lab analysis (air + surface) is $150 per sample via NATA-accredited labs. Choose fewer samples for basic confirmation or more for full remediation planning.
Health Concerns: Individuals with CIRS or mould sensitivities often choose more extensive testing.
Flexible to Your Needs: Every household is different—testing is tailored to your health, priorities, and budget.
Mould Removal Costs
We refer clients to non-affiliated, IICRC-certified remediation professionals and provide detailed, evidence-based reports to guide the scope of works. The extent and cost of remediation varies significantly depending on the size of the affected area, the type of building materials involved, the level of contamination, and the complexity of access and containment requirements. Jess’s reports are designed to clearly define what requires removal or cleaning and to identify the underlying moisture and building causes that must be corrected, helping remediators scope the works accurately and helping clients avoid incomplete remediation, unnecessary demolition, and costly recurrence.
Factors Affecting Removal Costs
Physical Removal Required: Mould must be physically removed - not just treated with sprays/fogging.
Building Material Removal: Damaged porous materials (plasterboard, insulation, MDF) may need replacement.
Location of Contamination: Hard-to-reach areas (walls, subfloors, ceilings, HVAC) increase costs.
Extent and Severity: Larger contamination requires specialised containment, PPE, and equipment.
Additional Equipment/Services: Air testing, HEPA vacuuming, and dehumidifiers may add costs.
Discuss with Your Remediator: Costs vary - always confirm with your chosen professional.
Independent Inspection: In line with IICRC S520 standards, MouldWise inspections remain independent from remediation to ensure unbiased recommendations.
