CIRS, Toxic Mould Illness And Environmental Exposure: Practical Consult Calls To Reduce Ongoing Triggers

If you’ve recently been diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), also known as Toxic Mould Illness or Biotoxin Illness, you’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed.

Many people receive a diagnosis, start treatment, and still feel stuck - not because they’re doing something wrong, but because ongoing environmental and biotoxin exposure hasn’t been fully considered.

A very common question I hear is:
“Where do I even start?”

CIRS Is Often Driven by Ongoing Environmental Exposure

For many people with CIRS, symptoms aren’t just coming from the body - they’re being continually triggered by the environment.

While mould and water-damaged buildings are well-recognised contributors, there are often other biotoxin exposures involved that simply aren’t on people’s radar yet. Until these drivers are identified and managed, it can be very difficult to stabilise - even with appropriate medical care.

CIRS-Specific Consults (1 Hour)

I offer CIRS-specific Zoom consults focused on environmental and exposure-related factors that may be contributing to ongoing symptoms.

These consults are designed to help you:

  • Understand how your symptoms relate to your environment

  • Identify common but often-missed exposure sources

  • Consider mould and other relevant biotoxin exposures

  • Prioritise practical next steps without overwhelm

This is not a medical consultation.
The focus is on understanding environmental triggers, exposure patterns, and practical ways to reduce ongoing inflammatory load. This is something that people won’t get from their doctor.

Topics we often explore include:

  • Symptom patterns at home versus away

  • Room-specific reactions

  • Moisture, ventilation, and condensation issues

  • Contents and cross-contamination risks

  • Day-to-day behaviours that can unintentionally worsen exposure

  • Practical exposure-control strategies, including small-particle cleaning

  • Biotoxin exposures that may not yet have been considered, but are relevant to CIRS

The aim is clarity - not doing everything at once.

A Comprehensive (Optional) Pre-Consult Questionnaire

Before the consult, you’ll be offered a detailed but optional questionnaire.

This questionnaire is intentionally designed to:

  • Help you reflect on your home, habits, and exposures

  • Highlight what you may already be doing well

  • Gently flag areas that could be contributing to symptoms

  • Capture biotoxin exposures that are often missed or underestimated

  • Provide insight and education even before we meet

Many people find that simply reading through the questions helps them recognise patterns they hadn’t previously connected.

If brain fog, fatigue, or overwhelm make this feel like too much, that’s completely okay. The questionnaire is optional, and we can still have a general discussion during the consult.

This Is About Clarity, Not Perfection

Navigating CIRS doesn’t require perfection (even though the internet groups will make you feel like it does). It requires prioritisation, sequencing, and understanding where your biggest exposure drivers are.

Who These Consults Are For

These consults may be helpful if you:

  • Have recently been diagnosed with CIRS and feel unsure where to start

  • Are treating CIRS but not stabilising

  • Suspect your home or belongings may still be contributing

  • Want to understand whether other biotoxin exposures may be playing a role

  • Are post-remediation and want to reduce the risk of re-exposure

  • Want practical, environment-focused guidance without overwhelm

How to Book

CIRS consultation options can be booked below or via email. Consults are $150 + GST per hour (or $75 + GST for 30-minute follow-up calls). If you choose to complete the optional questionnaire, this also includes up to 15 minutes of review time prior to the initial consult, at no additional charge. Many clients report that the clarity gained from these sessions goes well beyond the cost. If you’re unsure whether this is the right fit, email is the best way to reach me at info@mouldwise.com.au
